#120. Alan Watts - My Secret Motivation
February 19th 19:24, (Tokyo)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello! I have had many people ask me how I constantly create and remain so motivated without burning out, I want to talk about that today.

1) Music. While working, listening to my favourite music - often sparse things like the previously mentioned 'Hana ni mizu' by Hosono Haruomi. Finding the right music to give you energy is core. 'Hana ni Mizu' is a track which, like growing a flower slowly evolves and you can feel progression. If you are drawing a piece of art, you can time the creation along to an album which inspires you, and it will guide you through the process.

2) Alan Watts. Listening to Alan Watts, learning to accept and slow down, and respect everything you are doing without rushing around is important. Accept what he says, and your life will improve.

3) Stick to your guns. Hold your ground, stay grounded. I am making HP:T. HP:T is part of me. These 10 songs I have been working on for 10 years are good, and constantly improving them will pay off. Whatever you are working on, stick at it - make it a part of your identity and you will see growth in all aspects of your life.

See you tomorrow!

#119. New WIP
February 18th 21:24, (Tokyo)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey guys! I started making an interesting area in the game... without going into too much detail, it has you go up a lot of floors, each with different challenges, be they battles or puzzles, and you ascend through the classes of Tokyo.

I hope it excites you!

Toby Fox recently tweeted about a game that inspired Undertale called Moon: Remix. He claimed that he didn't play it as it was Japanese, but it inspired him to come up with the idea of 'LV' (Level) actually standing for 'level of violence'. Now, I think he did play it more than he let on, as the game enters with a Toriel-type grandma character who looks after you and is very familiar with you, thinking you are her dead grandchild... and also the way that the voices work, as they are cut up clips from foreign TV as far as I can tell. It's pretty hilarious because the characters will just be saying random English phrases that don't at all correlate with the things they're saying in Japanese. It's a wonderful game from what I have played myself so far and highly creative. It also starts off with a traditional JRPG - probably to highlight the difference between the game itself and that genre. I think Toby Fox was a lot more inspired by this game than he was willing to let on. Oh well!

Here's a clip from the game, skip to 13 min+ to see the game actually become the true game... check it out!

See you tomorrow!

#117. Our present and future, and our future present :)
February 16th 23:45, (Tokyo)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

So it's 100 days until our baby is born! Me and Kou have been awaiting our daughter's arrival for a while, honestly the pregnancy has gone quite fast in our anticipation! Kou has dealt with it all amazingly. She and our daughter are truly my pride and joy.

You can never truly comprehend how much you need to meet your child once you have seen them kick at you, and seen them rub their eyes or laugh(?) in the 4D ultrasound.

I can't even comprehend it, and we have seen her multiple times already! The feeling is far too large to contain or to express, I think I could probably do a better job with music, and I definitely will try to.

Thank you. And yes that is our baby in that belly.

#116. That fateful image that led everyone here...
February 15th 23:33, (Tokyo)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I started making this new level background... It should be familiar to anyone following along with HP:T on Facebook!

I had some nice comments from Enzo, Big_Dondo, Jacqueline (Softcookie) and 8BitScooby in the Discord group (link in the banner above).

I also had some good feedback during the process from Vincent Fallow and Googol_Dead! Vincent pushed me to make the moon brighter which was a good move, and Googol_Dead's various comments about not letting the clouds get in the way of the castle too much, (as well as others) were great too. Thanks guys!

It's time to add the foreground so I will be doing that tonight and hopefully get it to you guys to see soonish.

Thanks as always.

#115. Happy Valentine's Life
February 14th 20:26, (Tokyo)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today me and my wife Kou spent the day at home.

As she is pregnant with our daughter, we decided to just stay in and enjoy each other's company. Actually I work freelance on music from home anyway, so we are always together. However, of course I wasn't working at all.

From the first time I saw Kou's photo I knew that if I were able to be with her I'd be set for life, and of course when I met her, her kindness and passion for making clothes and food etc. was immediately obvious and confirmed my feelings! I need someone else who is driven to do what they love, I can't settle for anything less. As we are going into our 5th year of marriage and have daughter on the way, I'd say it was the right feeling.

Kou is a kind and caring person who lives very selflessly, and I have every confidence we will be able to raise our daughter and reinforce her positively, so they can make a happy life doing the things she loves.

Every year Kou makes a cake for me, and it didn't change this year despite her being pregnant. What a lovely wife.

See you again tomorrow,

Sam Louix

#114. Oh, hello inspiration. You won't leave me alone will you?
February 13th 11:20, (Tokyo)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh, my god. I think I have just found something that will heavily inspire Healing Process: Tokyo and my band's second album too.

Using the software 'Paulstretch', the YouTube user dumaramutsi has managed to slow down 'Pyramid Song' by Radiohead and it sounds like it was created intentionally this way.

Listening to stuff like this while creating is very satisfying.

#113. Thoughts on: Persona 5
February 12th 21:51, (Tokyo)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I am going to say it... Persona 5 wasn't quite unique enough for my tastes. Up until Persona 5, they didn't really have a true 'theme' in terms of visual or audio art in the game... but this time it's like they said 'Okay let's just do Persona 4 again as if it were Lupin III, that's good enough right?'... no it's not good enough. Persona 4 was super unique and Persona 5 just... wasn't. You parodied the Persona 4 tropes in a new theme. I think maybe it's okay once... but you really need to do something new next time.

Honestly, Catherine was more unique than Persona 5 and has more artistic merit. If Persona 6 is another one of these 'detective' things like Persona 4 and Persona 5, you've really lost me.

Also, the music is getting stale. Sorry. Try something new Meguro, you have the ability.

#112. The Importance of Consistency
February 11th 16:23, (Tokyo)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks to this blog and tracking my progress with daily uploads, I have realised the importance of working hard and consistently. I won't just be throwing out any old rubbish though. Since I am making a new area every day or two, I've decided I should definitely show even just a small portion of those on Twitter, so I am starting to do so.

Also, I meant only 30-40% done... Oh well :)

Thanks to those who have followed me already! There are some talented people out there and it's a pleasure to see everyone's art.
